Determined to Triumph Over Discouragement

Nabati Gedam and Thakem Kumar, Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries, frequently conduct outreach trips to distribute Gospel tracts, visit the sick and see how their neighbors are doing at home—but they’re not always welcomed.

During one of their house visits, they met a family who invited the two missionaries into their homes. But once they started sharing the Good News of Christ, the owner of the house rebuked them.

“Why are you going here and there spreading about the Christian God? We have our own religion and our own faith,” the house owner said. “We are not interested. Stop doing this; it is just a waste of time.”

The man’s accusations continued, and Nabati and Thakem were forced to leave before they finished explaining the love of Christ to this family. Undeterred, they continued on their mission, going door to door looking for people who wanted to know more about Jesus.

Failed Efforts
They met one woman who seemed to accept the message of Christ, but she then explained that she believed all gods were the same, only with different names and identities.

“The local people have hardened their hearts,” said a GFA field correspondent. “It is as if they have taken an oath not to listen or believe in anything our two missionaries have shared.”

When Nabati and Thakem found that the local people did not react favorably toward their visits, they decided to pass out Gospel literature. Some accepted the tracts and went on their way, while others asked questions. A group of youths snatched the tracts out of their hands, tore them up, threw them on the ground and spit on the shreds of paper.

Persevering in the Ministry
“In spite of all these unfavorable circumstances, our missionaries are doing ministry in this village with perseverance,” a GFA correspondent said.

Nabati and Thakem said it is sometimes very discouraging to see the ill treatment of the local people and to go through such hardships, but they continue to press on in the Lord. Even though they see no fruit from their labors in this village, it is their vision and desire to establish a fellowship there and bring the local people to God’s saving grace. They are in need of prayer support.

Please Pray

Comments and prayer

Nabati and Thakem Missionaries.
...These things I have spoken to you, that In Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16: 33, It Is easy for me to sit back here and quote scripture but you are on the front line ! but what I will say Is that you are blessed for our Lord Jesus has called you In to the missionary field, and what a ministry to be In ! and it may seem that there Is not much fruit coming forth but you have sown the word of God and our Lord will give the Increase, for His word accomplishes everything to which it Is sent. I also will add that whatever our Lord calls us to he always gives us the grace to get through ! When our Lord Is doing a mighty work the enemy will always come along and try to halt It. be strong our Lord will not fail you. My prayers are with you ! God Bless.
