Why Sewing Machines?
Many families work as labourers or pick up whatever work they can get, but some of the time, it’s simply not enough to survive on. Sometimes they even have to resort to selling their own children just to earn enough money to support the rest of the family. Can you imagine being in that kind of position?
When Maemi’s husband could no longer work, the burden of providing for the family fell to Maemi. Tragically, they lost their family home and fell into poverty. When she met Pastor Silas, he arranged for her to receive a sewing machine through a GFA gift distribution. Maemi already had the skills to use one so having her own sewing machine meant she could sell clothes and lift her family out of poverty by providing an income from her own home!
Changing lives eternally
Through giving to people in need, we have the opportunity to change lives not only here and now, but eternally in Asia and Africa. Did you know that around 80,000 people die every day in the 10/40 Window? Some of their lives may end without ever hearing about the love of God or being shown any kindess. We can make a choice today that will forever change the fate of those who have yet to hear.
How can you help?
By providing a sewing machine to those in need, you have the chance to be a part of a family start their own tailoring business. Once the sewing machine is given, classes are provided so people can start putting their new machines to good use!
A family’s life can be completely transformed through the money made by making and repairing clothes for people in their community. Those who had no hope can now send their children to school and provide for their family!
