Giving to women’s literacy could change a woman’s life forever!
More than one in three women in Asia can’t read or write and have no access to the resources they need to learn. We often take reading and writing for granted but imagine never being able to read a simple street sign or a letter from a loved one or life-giving medicine prescriptions!
Their inability to read leaves them vulnerable anyone who might want to take advantage of their ignorance, and without reading the Bible, it can be difficult for them to deepen their knowledge of Jesus and His love!
Through national missionary sponsorship, we have the opportunity to change lives not only here and now, but eternally in Asia and Africa. Did you know that around 80,000 people die every day in the 10/40 Window? Some of their lives may end without ever hearing about the love of God. We can make a choice today that will forever change the fate of those who have yet to hear.
But now, through GFA World’s Women’s Literacy Programme, the written world is opening up for so many women for the first time! The ability to read and write for themselves gives these women the confidence to educate their children, know what contracts they’re signing, or whether they’re being taken advantage of by their prospective employers etc.
Women learn how to read by reading the Bible, which is the foundational text for our classes – they gain a deep knowledge of Scripture while they learn how to change their lives through reading and writing. Pastors’ wives and women missionaries serve as teachers, so students have the opportunity to grow both educationally and spiritually!
